In general, Canada is like the United States, but better. That rule applies to driving as well. The roads are open; the lanes are wide; and unlike the US there are not huge potholes everywhere (I’m talking to you, New York City).
There are some pre-car roads in Québec. And, essentially, Canada is the Arctic, and so most of the country is covered in permafrost and it is dark half the year. Hence you are likely to face driving in snow at night. But generally, it’s a country made for the automobile.
