Foreign Driver Rating: !! not too bad

I have a soft spot for Poland, as it was the first foreign country I tried driving in, after the US and UK. Poland has come rapidly up to the EU standard, even the poorer parts of the country, and most of the expressways are as good as you would find in any EU country. Roads as well, and the quality of vehicles on those roads, tend to be as good as nearly anywhere in Europe. That said, the number of pre-car roads, and some poor urban planning, do make things a little more challenging.

Also, seriously, upgrade the road to Zakopane, people! In the summer, it’s gridlock for hours.
